Superman: The Ride- Review
Superman: The Ride is a 208ft tall Intamin Hypercoaster located at Six Flags New England in Agawam, MA. The ride boasts a 208 foot tall lift hill, a 221 foot drop into a tunnel, and speeds of up to 77 mph. Those are some pretty insane stats. This review will be split up into different categories with my final thoughts at the end. The ride will be rated on a 1-10 scale.
Final Opinion- Superman: The Ride is my #1 steel roller coaster out of 100. The downsides of this ride are mostly forgotten when you experience it. This is an amazing ride, and I will give it a final score of 9/10.
- Scenery- Superman is located right beside the Connecticut River, and provides great views from the lift hill. The ride itself is located over grass with not much else. 4/10
- Theming- Superman's queue line is shaped as the Superman logo, and also has many comic boards along it. The ride itself has audio on the lift and brakes playing the Superman theme. Throughout the ride, there are multiple cutouts of Superman and Metropolis, but they do not really add anything to the ride. The best piece of theming is the Shield tunnel, which creates a head-chopper effect, and lights up with mist at night. While the theming is solid for a Six Flags park, it is nothing too special. 6/10
- Trains- The trains on this ride are absolutely horrible. The trains feature seatbelts, extremely bulky and tight restraints in which many attendants love to staple you into, unnecessary headrests, and a missing row to hold the VR box. These cramped and uncomfortable trains are terrible. I must say, the new chrome, blue, and red color scheme look very nice. 2/10
- Airtime- This ride had AMAZING ejector airtime. Every single hill has sustained airtime in all parts of the train. If you want airtime, this is your ride! 10/10
- Speed- The top speed of Superman is 77 mph. This ride keeps its speed quite well, and feels very fast. There is one trim brake near the finale of the ride, and while it doesen't affect the ride too much, it could be better without it. 8/10
- Smoothness- Depending on which train you are riding, the ride can be very smooth or very shuffly. The blue train is butter smooth, but the red train shuffles around a lot. 7/10
- Drop- The first drop is 221 feet into an underground tunnel, and it is amazing. It is steep, tall, and intense! This drop is also full of airtime in the back car. 10/10
Final Opinion- Superman: The Ride is my #1 steel roller coaster out of 100. The downsides of this ride are mostly forgotten when you experience it. This is an amazing ride, and I will give it a final score of 9/10.
