Fright Fest 2016- SFNE

Fright Fest is the annual Halloween event that the Six Flags chain puts on in their parks. The event consists of scarezones, haunted houses and trails, and new experiences on attractions already in the park. The 2016 Fright Fest is full of scares! In my opinion, it is a better event than last year. I am going to go through the different Scare Zones, Haunted Trails, and Attractions, explaining the highs and lows of each! There will be no spoilers.
Additional-Fee Houses and Trails

  • Psycho-Path- This trail is new for 2016 and replaced the Total Darkness walkthrough. This uses a similar concept to Total Darkness, but with an added theme. Groups go through holding onto a rope with a special flashlight, which lights up during certain scenes. The haunt is themed to an Asylum. If somebody did not research Psycho-Path beforehand, I believe they would have been lost on the storyline, as it was not explained much at all. That being said, The house had a good amount of actors, and provided some good scares. It is definitely a step up from Total Darkness, but not as great as I expected.

  • Midnight Mansion- This haunted house takes over Houdini, the parks Vekoma Madhouse. This is your typical haunted house walkthrough. It is a pretty good haunt, it provides some good theming and scares, but it has not changed much over the years. That is the only disappointing part for me. This is a pretty long house, it takes you throughout the building, and even through an outdoor section. After all these years, it is still a good scare! I recommend visiting this one early, as it is located within the park and tends to get a long line.

  • Slasher Circus 3D- This attraction was new for 2015. It is a very cool concept. It mixes physical props with 3D paint and makeup for a dizzying and frightening experience.  The theme of this haunt is clowns, and it is over the top. I found there to be a lot more actors inside than last year, which was very nice! My only complaint about Slasher Circus is that I wish it was longer. I totally recommend this attraction.

  • Wicked Woods- Wicked Woods is one of my favorite haunted attractions at Six Flags New England. It is located in the woods of the picnic grove and is filled with actors, fog, and sets. There are many different scenes throughout the woods, all which are very well done. This is the trail that scared me the most during the night. This trail, and its counterpart, Aftermath, are done well enough to make me want to come back just to experience them again. Wicked Woods is a must do at Fright Fest.

  • The Aftermath: Zombies Revenge- This is by far my favorite at Fright Fest. Aftermath was introduced in 2013. It made Wicked Woods split up into two attractions. The actors and theming in here are amazing. The theme is that zombies have taken over the world. The theming stays above what you would expect from Six Flags throughout the whole attraction, and keeps you very involved and entertained. I absolutely love this maze.
Scare Zones

  • Undead Alley- This is the north-end of the park from Panda Express down to SkyScreamers stairs and ramp. This scare zone is home to the Pandemonium Zombie Coaster. This scarezone doesn't have a set theme, it is just spooky, which is great. The park also does a great job with Pandemonium. During Fright Fest, Pandemonium has an LED light show set to music, and it is a dizzying experience which adds a whole other level to the interactive entertainment of Fright Fest. Also located in the north end is SkyScreamer backwards. This is only for Fright Fest and it is amazing. I totally recommend riding!

  • Tombstone Territory- This is the Fright Fest overlay for Crackaxle Canyon. This is a great scare zone also. There is more theming added, there are flames in the fountain, Midnight Mansion is located here. Rage in The Cage bumper cars is a very cool blacklight bumper car experience. While not much else is different, you are sure to be spooked by the dead westerners.

  • Main Street Graveyard- This scare zone is where you are upon entering. There are some really good props, but not many actors. I believe that I saw a total of two actors at any given moment on main street.

  • Due to time constraints, I was unable to visit the Demon District, which is home to Voodoo Vortex and Terror Twist, which are the Fright Fest re-themes of the Tea Cups and Kontiki.

Do not forget to take a night ride on both Superman The Ride and Wicked Cyclone, which were both running great! Check out the rest of our photos below, and tell us what you think of Fright Fest.
