Phobia Phear Coaster- Review
Phobia is a Premier Rides Skyrocket II located at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. It is New England's only launch coaster and the first triple launch coaster ever in New England. Phobia boasts three launches, a 150 foot tall barrel roll, and 90 degree drop, and a non-inverting loop. This review will be split into categories, each being rated 1/10, and will finish it with an overall opinion and score.
- Theming- Phobia is themed to different fears, such as Coasterphobia. This is shown throughout the queue line on boards explaining the phobias. In the station, suspenseful/creepy music is played, setting the theme even more. There is no on-ride theming. 6/10
- Trains- Phobia uses the tradition Premier Rides train. There are two car, with lap and shin bar restraints. The trains are very comfortable, but are cramped, so entering and exiting is a little tricky. 8/10
- Smoothness- This ride is extremely smooth, and with a lapbar only restraint system, it just glides through every element. 10/10
- Speed- Phobia has a top speed of 65Mph. With three launches, each of them faster than the last, riders feel the speed very well. The launches accelerate gracefully. 10/10
- Airtime- Phobia was not a ride designed for airtime, but riders do get two "out of their seat" moments. The first being after the third launch before the barrel roll, provides amazing ejector air. The second is during the 90 degree drop, riders also experience airtime! 6/10
- Inversion- The single inversion on these Sky Rocket II models is a barrel roll located 150 feet above the ground. Phobia has the tallest inversion in North America! This barrel roll provides terrifying hangtime while it dangles you with just a lapbar. This is a great element on this ride! 9/10
- Unique Elements- Phobia has an element called a "Non-inverting loop". This is one of the most forceful coaster elements that I have ever experienced. It is unique for the most part, and is a great part of this ride. 10/10
Phobia Phear Coaster is a great addition to Lake Compounce. It is does not take up much room, it has the perfect capacity, and it looks amazing from everywhere in the park. This ride provides a thrill that nothing else in New England can provide. For these reasons, Phobia Phear Coaster will receive a 9/10
