Splashwater Falls Deconstruction/ The Joker Construction Update #2

Image
We are back with another look at the progress of The Joker: 4D Free Fly Coaster. The Joker is an S&S Free Spin coming to Six Flags New England in 2017. This coaster is replacing the parks Splashwater Falls attraction, which is a Whitewater West spinning raft ride. It was added in 2006 after being relocated from Six Flags Astroworld. Now on to the pictures. All credits to the following photos go to @WickedCoasters, who sent them to us. Be sure to check out his instagram by clicking the link at the bottom of this post. Let's Take A Look Behind This Fence! Here is an overview of the whole site. As you can see, Splashwater Falls has been completely removed, along with its station. Six Flags New England wasted no time taking this ride down. Here you can see both the empty splash-pool and former station area. The station was completely torn down, but interestingly, the park carefully removed the water pumps. Here is another view of what is left of the statio

Fright Fest 2016- SFNE

Image
Fright Fest is the annual Halloween event that the Six Flags chain puts on in their parks. The event consists of scarezones, haunted houses and trails, and new experiences on attractions already in the park. The 2016 Fright Fest is full of scares! In my opinion, it is a better event than last year. I am going to go through the different Scare Zones, Haunted Trails, and Attractions, explaining the highs and lows of each! There will be no spoilers. Additional-Fee Houses and Trails Psycho-Path- This trail is new for 2016 and replaced the Total Darkness walkthrough. This uses a similar concept to Total Darkness, but with an added theme. Groups go through holding onto a rope with a special flashlight, which lights up during certain scenes. The haunt is themed to an Asylum. If somebody did not research Psycho-Path beforehand, I believe they would have been lost on the storyline, as it was not explained much at all. That being said, The house had a good amount of actors, an

Exclusive Interview! With Caitlin Stibitz

Image
Caitlin Stibitz, the Manager of Public Relations and Communications, was kind enough to take the time and answer some questions about Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom. Dorney Park is an amusement park owned by Cedar Fair located in Allentown, PA. They are home to rides such as the Steel Force hypercoaster, the B&M invert named Talon, an Intamin Impulse named Possessed, and many other attractions for the whole family. Dorney Park is not located in New England, but the reason that I wanted to do this interview is because while many parks are removing classic flat rides, Dorney is adding some, and they are much appreciated additions.   We hope you enjoy our interview! Q. How long have you been at Dorney Park?    A. I started with Dorney Park in April as the Manager of Public Relations and Communications.   Q. C an you tell our viewers all about the new for 2017 attractions?    A. Plans include two new rides, new live entert

The Big E 2016- Review/Report

Image
On Tuesday, September 20th, I took a trip to The Big E. The Big E is a huge expo in New England featuring a ton of food, state houses, animals, and rides. In this report, I am going to be focusing on the Midway provided by North American Midway Entertainment. I will be going through all of the rides that I rode, giving detail on them, and what I thought of the cycle being run. At the end, I will give my final thoughts about this years midway. The Blitzer Roller Coaster- In the past, this midway has been home to a spinning wild mouse coaster, named The Crazy Mouse. Within the past two years, it has been replaced with The Blitzer. The Blitzer is a Pinfari Zyklon Z47.  My first thoughts were that The Blitzer did not look as nice as the Crazy Mouse did. I also was thinking about how rough it would be, considering the other Pinfari coasters I have ridden were not very smooth. I boarded the 4 passenger car and the ride op physically pushed us out of the station. We were off

Lake Compounce 2017 Prediction

Image
For the 2016 season, Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT added Phobia. Phobia is a Premier SkyRocket II model, and is the parks fifth roller coaster. As of now, September 2016, the park has not released their 2017 attraction. I am going to list two options of what I think the park may add in 2017, and back it up by different reasons. Please give me some feedback on what you think about this new segment of the blog! Photo Credit Return of  Lake Plunge Slides- Years ago, Lake Compounce had a set of Slides Called Lake Plunge. These slides twisted around and then ended in the lake. I remember them being a ton of fun. When the park removed them, they were not scrapped. They are actually still in storage. Why would they be saved if they were not going to be used again? If this happens, I think they will be located in the newly cleared area in the water park. I do not believe that they will keep the same name, nor will they still go into the lake. I believe a new pool will be built.
