Exclusive Q&A with Kristin Siebeneicher
We are back with another Exclusive Question and Answer segment! This time, it was conducted with Kristin Siebeneicher of Six Flags Great Adventure. We would like to thank her so much for taking time out of her busy schedule to answer our questions! Enjoy!
Q. Can you tell the readers of New England Coaster News a little bit about JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle For Metropolis, your new attraction for 2017?
A. We are extremely excited to debut JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis next summer. It is one of the most innovative, interactive and exciting attractions we have ever undertaken. This multi-sensory, interactive dark ride received global recognition and awards. It combines world-class game play and cutting-edge technology. Guests will become members of the Justice League Reserve team and engage in a full-sensory journey to save the city of Metropolis as they battle alongside Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Supergirl and Cyborg against Super Villains Lex Luthor and The Joker. It provides a high definition, 4D ride experience with wind, fire, mist and fog effects, plus life-like animatronic characters. 3D animation will fully immerse riders into the city of Metropolis, and state-of-the-art, real-time gaming elements will include 600 virtual and tangible targets. It will be located in Movietown across from Showcase Theater, in a new section known as Metropolis.
Q. Six Flags Great Adventure has a Stellar lineup of roller coasters including Five B&Ms, an S&S Free Spin, an Intamin Wooden Coaster, and The Worlds Tallest Coaster! Can you explain the process that the park goes through when it is time to add another coaster?
A. Research is the most important aspect of our future planning processes. We conduct a great amount of research with our guests to determine what is most important to them. Our park is fairly evenly split between the teen/young adult segment, and the family segment, which isn’t the case in some other parks. That means that we must strike a balance between attractions that are geared to thrill seekers and thrilling rides geared to families. Often times, we will introduce a thrill ride one year, and follow the next year with a family ride to maintain that balance. For example, the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride, Zumanjaro, was followed by a tween ride, El Diablo, which was followed by a 4D free fly coaster, THE JOKER. And in 2017, we’ll focus on families with JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis. Guest feedback always guides the attractions, whether they are looking for something extreme, or tween, or something everyone in the family can do together, for example.
Q. For
the 2016 season, the park introduced The Joker, which has the capability to be
changed from season to season by moving the magnetic fins. Will we see any
changes to this coaster in 2017?
Q. What sets Six Flags Great Adventure apart from other amusement parks, not only in the area, but in the world?
A, Several factors set Six Flags Great Adventure apart from other theme parks. Our massive size and scope is one of the first things people notice. Our roller coaster collection, as you noted, is definitely one of our highlights. People travel from around the world to experience our thrill rides. We are also extremely proud of our 350-acre Safari Off Road Adventure. Guests are often surprised by just how many exotic animals from around the world they see along the journey, and how close they can get to them. Each truck includes an educator, and each trip is different depending on where the animals have migrated and how they have intermingled that day. It is focused on providing a fun, interactive and educational experience. We also have a fantastic water park, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, one of the best Fright Fest experiences anywhere, and in my humble opinion, the most beautiful holiday event anywhere with Holiday in the Park.
Q, Can you tell our readers about your Holiday in the Park event?
A. Holiday in the Park® runs weekends and select days November 19 through January 2, 2017. More than a million glittering lights, dazzling holiday entertainment, delicious seasonal treats, Santa’s village and many popular rides provide a way for guests to create memorable holiday moments at Six Flags Great Adventure. The sights, sounds, scents and experiences are carefully coordinated to provide an incredibly immersive and magical holiday experience. In 2016, it features a newly-themed section, Merry Marketplace, new shows, shops, additional rides and a variety of new dining options. The event is included with all Season Passes and active Memberships.
It features 11 specially-themed areas of the park. The iconic attractions include: Holiday Magic: A Celebration of the Season, a spectacular light show on a 52-foot-tall tree in the heart of the park that dazzles nightly every 30 minutes through eye-popping effects, stirring music and gently falling snow; Gingerbread Junction, which features peppermint swirl-wrapped trees, dancing lights around the carousel pavilion, Dot & Drop’s Holiday Dance Party and a giant, inflatable gingerbread man towering above; North Pole, where Guests are welcomed into the warmth of Santa’s home for a meet-and-greet and holiday photos, plus kids can write letters to Santa and even meet a talking reindeer; Poinsettia Peak, the Skull Mountain roller coaster has been transformed into a mountain of dazzling red lights with a crimson beauty, the Poinsettia Princess, greeting guests nearby; Joy to the World, which is a tranquil pathway of warmly lit trees, luminaries and stained glass showcasing religious holidays from around the world; Polar Point, where its stunning, ice-blue trees twinkle with the illusion of falling snow up above, while the regal Snow Queen meets guests below. It also features fire pits, tons of holiday eats and treats and a myriad of fun and festive photo spots. In 2016, we will debut the Trouble in Toyland show in Showcase Theater, a new section, Merry Marketplace, which features shops, treats and warm fire pits, great stocking stuffers, holiday candies, Belgian waffles, piping hot soup and creamy, hot chocolate; Holiday Harmonies with Hotsy Totsy, featuring a New Jersey-based, 1950’s-style vocal trio; an expanded ride package with THE JOKER, HARLEY QUINN Crazy Train, and Sky Way; and additional dining options.
Q. Is there anything else that you would like to share with New England Coaster News?
A. Thanks for the opportunity to share a little about our park with your readers! We hope you all get the chance to come see us, whether it’s for JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis, or Fright Fest, or Holiday in the Park! Each Six Flags park has its own flavor and cast of characters (meaning our team members!). One thing that remains constant is the tireless dedication from our teams. We spend more time at work than we do with our own families, and pour our heart and souls into what we do to create a memorable experience for you, our guests. We know things aren’t always perfect, but know we are always trying. We really appreciate fans who notice and celebrate the little things we do, and keep it positive on social media.
