Green Lantern- Coaster Review

Stand Up To Your Fears.
That is the tagline for Green Lantern, a B&M Stand-Up coaster located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
This coaster opened in 1997 as Chang, at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.
The ride brings riders up 154 feet, and sends them flying down 144 feet into a 126 foot tall vertical loop. Riders experience 5 inversions on their 2 1/2 minute journey. In this review I will be going through different categories and scoring them 1-10. Then, at the end I will give my overall opinion of the ride.

  • Theming- Green Lantern is themed to the DC Superhero of the same name. The queue line features storyboard which give the riders information and stories about Hal Jordan( Green Lantern). The station is themed to the Ferris Aircraft, and has a very nice look. The rides vertical loop is painted yellow, to represent Parallax, who is Green Lanterns enemy. The ride also features a cutout of this character. This ride has pretty good theming for a Six Flags park. 6/10

  • Trains- This is a Stand Up coaster. The trains feature an Over The Shoulder Restraints and a bike seat. The bike seat can be a little bit uncomfortable. One of the trains also has one less car than the others, which made for some confused and upset guests. But the trains provided a smooth ride. 5/10

  • Smoothness- I had heard that this ride was very uncomfortable and rough, but I decided to give it a chance seeing as I really enjoyed The Riddlers Revenge at Six Flags Magic Mountain. This ride turned out to be very smooth. I experienced no headbanging, shuffling, or rattling. 8/10

  • Inversions-  Green Lantern has 5 inversions throughout its 4,155 feet of track. These include a vertical loop, a dive loop, an inclined loop, and two corkscrews. These inversions are all very fun and forceful. I really liked the inclined loop, as it is a pretty unique element. Very well done! 9/10

  • Unique Elements- The unique elements on Green Lantern are its Stand Up trains and its inclined loop. Both are unique and make for an interesting ride experience. 8/10

Honestly, I do not understand why people call this ride rough or uncomfortable. I thought it was a great ride! While it is not the best B&M in the park, which is home to four others, it is still a very fun ride! The layout is very forceful, and the theming is done quite well. Green Lantern will be receiving a total score of 8/10
