Universal Studios Florida: Revenge Of The Mummy Production Tour
This is a report about the Production Tour on Revenge Of The Mummy at Universal Studios Florida. This report may contain spoilers for those who have not yet done the tour, but are planning on doing it.
Disclaimer: All Backstage photos and videos were taken with permission from my tour guide. Apparently some tour guides do not allow for photos, so be sure to ask the Team Member accompanying on the tour.
The Mummy Production Tour takes guests through both the overflow and regular queue, paying attention to the props and explaining everything. The overflow queue is only used during peak times, so it is not usually seen by the public.
The theme of the queue is that the riders are extras for the Mummy movie, and there is a huge debate regarding if the "curse" is real or not.
The first big room in the overflow queue is the "Blue Room"
The "Blue Room has many blueprints of movie props and photos from the movies on the walls.
Up next was the "Brown Room"
This room has many drawings/ storyboards from the movies also.
Up next was the "Red Room"
The Red Room has a lot of movie photos on the walls.
The final room was " The Black Room"
After the " Black Room", you are now "On Set" or, in the regular queue.
The first part of the regular queue is getting riders into the set. It houses some physical props, such as the above photo, and a rope hanging from the ceiling. This rope is a joke to Brandon Fraiser, who almost accidentally hung himself while performing a stunt.
Universal puts a massive amount of detail into their queue lines. Guests do not even come close to these props, yet Universal made them as detailed as possible, using replicas of blueprints and more!
Once in the queue, guests will pass the Wardrobe and Mold Storage displays. Both of these displays have props used from the actual movies.
The queue is full of interactive props too! This one has a different effect whether there is one or two hands on it.
A scene in the queue representing a Dig Site finding a Statue of Anubis
The Ride is also full of references to Kongfrontation, the attraction it replaced. The coins in the photos above were once used in the Kong arcade, and the row marker above has a Scarab (Beetle) in the shape of Kong also. A scene in the ride also had a Kong statue, but it was removed for some unknown reason by a ride technician.
My Favorite part of the tour was being able to go under the rides finale!
I want to thank Bailey for being an excellent tour guide!
Watch some under-ride footage below!
Thanks for reading New England Coaster News!

The statue was being polished, and in the same room you can find a large banana. There is also a tribute to ET in the ride as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathi! Thanks for the comment. Are you sure it was being polished? That seems odd for a small prop to be out for a month + just for polishing.
DeleteMy husband helped build this ride. He personally worked on the part whetr all the mummies jump up at you. He talks about all the burned hair that coverwd th ceilings from when the Kong arms would catch on fire from time to time. Its interesting to walk around Universal and hear his stories about different job sites in the parks.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for sharing this! The scene where the mummy come up at the riders gets me every time! I had no clue that Kongfrontation would have major issues like that, It was removed before my first visit. When riding, if you look up at the correct time, you'll actually see some old Kongfrontation track.
