Universal Orlando: The Attractions of Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure is one of two parks currently at Universal Studios Orlando. The park has 8 themed "Islands", all situated around a lagoon. The park is home to 4 roller coasters, 2 water rides, and multiple dark rides and family rides. I'll go through the different "Islands" and talk about the attractions and theming in each. Most photos are from 2017.
Marvel Superhero Island is home to 4 rides. These rides include The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Storm Force Accelatron, The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, and Dr.Doom's Fearfall.
The Incredible Hulk Coaster is a unique B&M Sitdown model. The coaster features an inclined drive tire launch, along with 7 inversions.
This my favorite coaster at any Universal park! It's fast, forceful, high capacity, and fun!
Recently, the entire ride was rebuilt. All new track, trains, and supports brought this ride back to the top!
The rides entrance actually uses pieces of track from before the rebuild! Very neat way to reuse the old ride!
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman is one of my favorite dark rides. It seamlessly mixes screens and physical sets. Sometimes it is done so well, you are not able to tell the difference between screen and props!
Spiderman, while being almost 20 years old, still beats new rides like Skull Island: Reign of Kong, because of its use of both screens and props, not only screens!

Storm Force Accelatron can be see in the back right of this photo. It is a Teacups ride themed after
X-Men
Dr. Doom's Fearfall is 2 S&S Tower Rides. They are both Space Shot models, meaning they launch riders upwards, instead of bringing them up slowly. They are themed to Doctor Doom from Fantastic Four.

The next island is Toon Lagoon. Toon Lagoon is home to two water ride, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges.
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is a large log flume type ride similar to Splash Mountain. It is themed to Dudley Do-Right.
Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges is a river rapids type ride which absolutely soaks riders! It is themed to the Popeye cartoon. One thing I really like about this ride is that there is a Dry Loose Article Bin in the middle of the raft, which is a GREAT thing to have! This way, phones and such do not get ruined!
The next island is Jurassic Park/ Skull Island.
This island is home to Skull Island: Reign of Kong, Jurassic Park River Adventure, and Pteranodon Flyers.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong is a large, screen based attraction. It is pretty much an extended version of Kong 360 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The ride has a good storyline, and I really like how each "Driver" has their own backstory. Universal did a great job with the vehicles and faux drivers. I also really like the outdoor section of the ride, as it sets you up for your explanation. The rest of the ride, seemed like it was rushed. You are very easily able to see the ends of the screens, the ride video isn't 100% clear, and the ending is anticlimactic. The Kong animatronic, while impressive to look at, literally does nothing but turn its head. I believe Universal dropped the ball on this attraction.
Jurassic Park River Adventure is another attraction in this Island. It is a highly themed Vekoma Shoot the Chutes ride. It is my favorite water ride that I have ridden. It is a classic theme, and you get SOAKED on it! My only issue is that some of the dinosaurs could use a little bit of TLC.
Pteranodon Flyers is a small suspended coaster. Only children or parents with children are allowed to ride. I unfortunately do not have a photo of this ride.
The next island is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can read my report of that Here!
The next island is The Lost Continent. This island no longer has any rides, but is home to Poseidon's Fury, a special effects walkthrough. Before the addition of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, The Lost Continent was also home to Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, which are now Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff.

Located in The Lost Continent is Mythos, which has been voted Best Theme Park Restaurant for 6 Years!

The final island is Seuss Landing, themed after the books by Dr. Seuss. It is perfect for the little ones, as it features many rides perfect for the whole family!
The statue of the man in the hat on the left is actually Dr.Seuss himself!

In my opinion, the CAN'T MISS rides at Islands of Adventure are:
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman
Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls
Jurassic Park River Adventure
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Dueling Dragon Challenge

Thanks for checking out my Islands of Adventure photos!
