#Transformation Tuesday- Superman The Ride
Superman The Ride is probably the most ICONIC ride at Six Flags New England. This 208ft Intamin Hyper Coaster has been hurdling riders at 77 miles per hour for 17 years now!
That being said, Superman The Ride has had multiple changes throughout its life.

When the coaster opened in 2000, it was called Superman: Ride of Steel. The coaster ran with two Intamin trains, each holding 36 riders, securing them with an Intamin T-Bar restraint.
This coaster was the definition of "Amazing".
From 2000 to 2008, Superman:Ride of Steel had a few changes done, but virtually remained the same attraction until 2009.
In 2009, Six Flags New England opened Bizarro. Bizarro was a re themed Superman:Ride of Steel. In an attempt to make the "World's Best Steel Coaster" even better, the park replaced the trains. The new trains held 34 people each, and secured them with a new U-bar restraint. The trains also included On-Board speakers which would play audio at concert level through your journey. New lights and props were also added to enhance the experience.
When Bizarro first opened, the experience was wonderful. The attraction had a fire effect, the audio told a story, and the lights made the attraction even better.
Unfortunately, this did not last very long. The rides fire effect was shipped off to Six Flags Over Texas, the original, storytelling audio was replaced with an overlay of random movie quotes, and many effects were just left to rot.
On the bright side, after a few years, the park added a very entertaining musical soundtrack which played throughout the ride.
At the end of the 2015 season, it was announced that Superman had defeated Bizarro, and 2016 would bring Superman The Ride!
Superman The Ride saw the iconic red track return to Six Flags New England, along with new lift lights, and the removal of the On-Board Speakers!
The Big "S" was finally back to Six Flags New England
The ride operated with a GearVR Virtual Reality Program for the season, which was very cool indeed.
But now for 2017, Superman is back!
Thanks for reading about the history of Superman The Ride!
