Thoughts on Mind Eraser- Galactic Attack
Today, March 16, 2017, Six Flags New England announced both Galactic Attack Virtual Reality and New Trains on Mind Eraser, the parks Vekoma SLC. The park is greatly improving Mind Eraser for its 20th Anniversary. You can find the details Here! In this post, I'll be sharing my thoughts on these additions.

Let's start with Galactic Attack Virtual Reality Coaster. For the 2017 season, Six Flags New England has removed VR from Superman The Ride, and has moved it to Mind Eraser. This new VR program is different, as it uses the phones camera for riders to see while in the station. Following dispatch, the riders experience augmented reality, meaning that there is a virtual overlay over the actual surroundings. At the crest of the lift hill, it becomes total, immersive Virtual Reality. Below is B-Roll Footage of Galactic Attack on Kong at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, a similar attraction.
I believe that this will be an improvement over the Superman Virtual Reality Coaster. The use of cameras in the station should hopefully speed up the process, as riders are now able to see out and help the attendants if needed. I also like the idea of putting it on a less popular attraction, as this revives an older ride, while shortening other lines in the park. I think that Galactic Attack will be a great new experience for 2017!

The other addition to Mind Eraser for the 2017 season is NEW TRAINS! Gone are the days of head banging on Mind Eraser. Six Flags has worked with Vekoma, the rides manufacturer, and replaced the rides bulky over the shoulder restraints for sleeker Vest Restraints. These new restraints will provide a more "Free" feeling experience, while still keeping the rider secure.

Mind Eraser has a fun, intense layout, and these new trains can only improve the ride experience. Last season at Six Flags Over Georgia, that park purchased new trains for Ninja, now Blue Hawk. Below is a reverse POV of Blue Hawk, showing off restraints similar to those on Mind Eraser.
I am very excited for this improvement. I like the idea of improving a ride rather than removing it. I have always thought that Mind Eraser had a great layout, but the restraints ruined the experience. With both the New Trains and Galactic Attack Virtual Reality, Mind Eraser will be back as one of Six Flags New England's top attractions!
