Lake Compounce Construction Tour
On March 26th, we were able to go on a construction tour at Lake Compounce, in Bristol, Connecticut! This tour was showcasing the progress on all of the many improvements that the park is making for the 2017 season! Before I go any further, I want to thank Jerry Brick at Lake Compounce and ACE New England!
Now onto the tour! I'm going to go by project, as it will help the flow of this article!
The American Flyers
The parks Flying Scooter attraction is getting a new look! The tubs are painted and awaiting wraps, while the center will be painted later on!
I think they look FANTASTIC! The ride will definitely have a refreshed look this season, and the tubs will look even better once they're wrapped!
Sweet Shoppe
The Sweet Shoppe is getting remodeled! The classic candy store has received many upgrades, including new decor, color changing lights, and a Pretzel/Apple dipping station, where they will be dipped fresh!
The new colors and signage look great, and give the shop a modern twist, while retaining there classic candy store feel!
The Wave Swinger
The Wave Swinger attraction will be receiving new seats!
Instead of the wicker seats, they look like the newer version found on Crime Wave at Six Flags New England. This is sure to be a great addition to this classic ride!
Wildcat
Wildcat construction is still very much underway. As you can see in the above photo. the lift hill is being reconstructed, with the addition of new supports on the side, which will also provide a tunnel like experience on the return run towards the brakes. The rides control panel is also moving to the opposite side of the station.
There's still a lot of work to be done. Trackwork is expected to be done around early-mid April, with the trains arriving around then too! The park expects the ride to open around Memorial Day Weekend.
Ghost Hunt is expected to open about two weeks into the season. The ride is receiving brand new guns and targets from Lagotronics!
Here you can see parts of the Ghost Hunt cars!
Boulder Dash
Boulder Dash has gotten a ton of work done since the last tour! The entire former triple-up is being replaced with an airtime filled double up designed by Alan Schilke! Alan Schilke is best known for his crazy creations on Rocky Mountain Construction coasters, along with his work at Arrow Dynamics. Multiple other sections of track are also being worked on, and best of all, It Will Be Open on Opening Day!
We also got to see the Boulder Dash control room!
I cannot wait to try Boulder Dash in 2017!
Phobia
While not under construction, we got to see Phobia!
The ride will be getting some improvements to the train to reduce vibrations felt on ride!
We were also shown the Flywheel room! Very, Very cool system!
Everything Else
Below are just some other pictures I took of attractions around the park.
Thanks for reading! And thanks again to Jerry Brick, Lake Compounce, and ACE New England!
