Lake Compounce Opening Weekend

Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT opened for the 2017 season this past weekend. I visited on Sunday, May 7th to check out all of the improvements made to the park!
First, lets check out Ghost Hunt. The park is working hard to get Ghost Hunt open for Memorial Day. This season, the ride will have all new guns and targets. The targets will change colors, and be worth a different amount of points depending on the color. The park is also adding a scoreboard to the end of the ride!
Wildcat's work is also nearing completion. Crews were hard at work while I was at the park on Sunday.
The new GCI Millennium Flyers are already on the track, just waiting for the track work to be complete. These trains, along with the track work, should provide a very smooth experience on Wildcat!
The park is aiming for a Memorial Day opening!
The tubs on American Flyers got some new paint and decals, which look very nice!
Wave Swinger also got new seats! I found them to be quite comfortable! The ride was also running a very fun cycle!
Zoomer's Gas N Go also got some work. A new operator booth was constructed over the off season. It looks very nice, and was themed nicely for the ride!
Wipeout seemed to be running a good cycle.
Thunder n' Lightning was also running the left arm for the first time in forever. The cycle was short, but it's still one of my favorite flat rides.
I tried out the new Doc Popcorn shop, which is located near Dunkin Donuts under Ghost Hunt. I sampled the Apple Crisp flavor, and purchased the JalapeƱo flavor. Both were very good.
I did not ride Zoomerang, but guests seemed to be enjoying it!
And Phobia was running great as always. The launch seems to be a little later now, as it launched after the spiel, and not on the word "Phobia".
Now for the main attraction. Boulder Dash!
Boulder Dash was running amazing! The track work really helped the ride! I rode in the back row, and experienced very little roughness. Just the typical wooden coaster feeling.
The new double up element provided some good airtime, and is a huge improvement from the rough triple-up.

The new speakers and map at the entrance area look pretty good, and the speakers played some nice music!

Thanks for reading! This is going to be a great season at Lake Compounce!
