Quassy Amusement Park Announces 2017 Additions!

Image
Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury, CT has just announced TWO new attractions for 2017! The first of these new family attractions is Skippers Clippers. This spinning attraction can fit both kids and adults, and has plenty of interactive features, such as the choice of making the vehicle go up and down. This ride is manufactured by SBF Visa. The second new attraction is a Zamperla Samba Balloon. This ride can also fit both adults and children, making it a great family addition. This is the only Samba Balloon located in New England! These two rides will be located in a new Kiddieland section located right on the water! I believe that these additions are perfect for Quassy, especially after the parks last two additions were more thrilling. These rides are going to look great in their new home! Let's Talk About Boulder Dash *Updated!

Image
Update at the end of the article! Boulder Dash is a wooden coaster located at Lake Compounce, in Bristol, CT. To get an in depth look at the ride, you can read my review  HERE . But today we're going to talk about the future of the ride. This season, the triple-up element on Boulder Dash was unbearably rough. Rough enough that they are removing it and adding a new section of track in that spot. What we don't know is what type of element will be there. I will be going through different options, from least likely to most likely, and explain why I believe they are possible and practical.  An Inversion- One element that could be added is an inversion. While this is not very likely, it is possible as it would be a brand new experience and would be very marketable. Likeliness- 1/10 Now that's out of the way, so let's get on to some elements that could actually happen. Air Time Hill- A more likely addition would be a single airtime hill. ...

Off Season Plans

Image
As you guys know, the dreaded Off Season is upon us. In here, I will be sharing my park plans for the next few months, including some special trips outside of New England. Holiday Lights @Lake Compounce- This is not 100% confirmed, but there is a chance that I will check out the Holiday event! If I go, be sure to expect a trip report! Universal Studios Orlando Resort- This is 100% happening. I will be visiting in February. I will be going to both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventures. Be sure to expect a huge trip report, along with reviews of the new Hulk and Skull Island: Reign of Kong.  Fun Spot Orlando- Also not confirmed, but there is a small chance that I will also be visiting this park in February. I have never been to this park before, so hopefully I get the chance. So that is all I have for the next few months! But do not worry, as I will be keeping you updated with Coaster Reviews, Attraction Battles, and other new articles!

El Toro- Coaster Review

Image
El Toro translates to "The Bull", and that is a fitting name for this ride. Located at Six Flags Great Adventure,  El Toro is the only Intamin Prefabricated Wooden Coaster in the United States. Standing at 181ft tall, El Toro travels along its 4,400 feet of track at 70 mph. This 102 second ride is packed full of airtime and laterals. El Toro has also been voted the World's Number 1 Wooden Coaster many times!  In this review I will be going through different categories and scoring them 1-10. Then, at the end I will give my overall opinion of the ride. Theming and Scenery- El Toro is located in the parks Plaza Del Carnival section. The ride itself does not have any theming, but the station has a Spanish style structure. 4/10  Trains- El Toro runs with two trains, each seating 36 riders. Each train has 6 cars with 6 riders in each. Riders are restrained by seat belts and individual lap bars. These lap bars are similar to Superman at Six Flags Ne...

Kingda Ka- Coaster Review

Image
Kingda Ka truly is The King Of Coasters. This Intamin Strata-Coaster stands 456 feet all and travels at 128 mph, making it the World's Tallest Coaster, and the Fastest Coaster in North America. Kingda Ka opened in 2005 at Six Flags Great Adventure, located in Jackson, New Jersey.  In this review I will be going through different categories and scoring them 1-10. Then, at the end I will give my overall opinion of the ride. Theming and Scenery- Kingda Ka is the star attraction of the parks Golden Kingdom section. The ride itself is themed to a mythical tiger. To pull this theme together, both the sign and station have an African/ Jungle style. The queue is complete with a lot of foliage and bamboo fences also. There is no on-ride theming. Scenery wise, the ride looks very nice from inside the park. There really is not much that they could have done to enhance to look of the in field. For Theming and Scenery, Kingda Ka will receive a 5/10. Trains- Kingda Ka featur...

Exclusive Q&A with Kathy Burrows of Hersheypark

Image
This Q&A is with Kathy Burrows, the PR Manager at Hersheypark, located in Hershey, PA. We would like to thank her very much for taking the time to answer our questions!  We would also like to thank  All American Thrills  for providing most of the photos that you see here! What sets Hersheypark apart from other amusement parks?  Hersheypark was built in 1907 by chocolate magnate Milton S. Hershey. It is a one of a kind park. The park has changed and grown over the years but the still is true to the vision of Mr. Hershey   Can you tell us a little bit about Hersheypark's History?  Mr. Hershey built the park in 1907 as a picnic and pleasure grounds for the employees of his chocolate factory and the people of the town of Hershey. Originally the park did not have any rides- just a baseball diamond, some swings and also an amphitheatre. In 1923, for the 20th anniversary of the town, Mr. Hershey added The Wild Cat roller coaster. Later he...

Quassy 2017 Prediction

Image
Recently, Quassy Amusement Park, located in Middlebury, CT have begun teasing a new attraction on Facebook.   This is where the park had two covered kiddie rides. Now I have a few predictions. Quassy is expected to be making an announcement with SBF Visa at IAPPA. SBF VISA has provided many of Quassy's recent additions. Below I will put two of my predictions for the park, along with explanations as to why. My first prediction is an SBF Visa Spinning Coaster. Seeing as both of the parks most recent dry additions catered to thrill seekers, I believe that this year will be more for families and kids. This coaster would be perfect for those who are past Little Dipper, but not yet ready for Wooden Warrior.  An SBF Visa Spinning Coaster would also fit very well in the spot left by the covered kiddie rides. Likeliness- 7/10 My second prediction is an SBF Visa Crazy UFO ride. This ride is very similar to the Zamperla Disko, and would also cater to both fami...
