A Visit to Dollywood
This past August (2019), I was able to visit Dollywood, which is highly regarded as one of the best amusement parks in the world. The park contains world class coasters such as Lightning Rod, Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado, and Wild Eagle, but is also home to many unique experiences for crafts and shopping. Dollywood was unlike any other park that I have visited before. Its location is filled with luscious trees and greenery, and the employees are some of the nicest I've experienced in a park! Below I'll be talking about some of the most noteworthy attractions and experiences at Dollywood!
Tennessee Tornado is the parks Arrow Looping Coaster, and it was fantastic! This ride had everything you could want in a coaster, including breathtaking inversions, quick transitions, and large drops. The ride is also incredibly smooth, which is something I did not expect from an Arrow Looper.
----
Mystery Mine is the parks Gerstlauer Eurofighter. This ride was definitely unique to say the least. The theming was great, and super immersive, and the drops and inversions on the ride were awesome! The ride was quite jenky and rough, though, but not bad enough to ruin the ride.
----
Wild Eagle is the parks B&M Wing Coaster, and was my first non 4D Wing Coaster. This ride was a ton of fun! The view from the top of the lift was incredible, and felt much higher because the ride is built on a hill. The ride was also very smooth, and actually had some decent forces. The only downside to this ride was that the vest restraints continue to lock during the ride, and they were very tight during the end of the ride.
----
Thunderhead is the parks GCI Wooden Coaster, and it was phenomenal! The ride was smooth, had some great twists and turns, and even some air time! The coaster absolutely rips through its course, providing a fast, intense ride experience.
----
Firechaser Express is Dollywood's Gerstlauer Multi- Launch family coaster. This coaster honestly blew me away. The launches felt forceful, the ride time was long, and the backwards section was really cool. This is probably the best family/kids coaster I've ridden!
----
Dare Devil Falls is the parks Log Flume, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ride weaved through many trees, and was covered with shade, and the final splashdown was great! I'd say it had the perfect amount of splash, where it was refreshing, but not drenching.
----
All I'm gonna say about this building is to find it, and buy the cinnamon bread. The bread was absolutely incredible!
----
Lightning Rod is the parks RMC Wooden Coaster, and the world's only launched wooden coaster, and WOW! This coaster is absolutely incredible. The airtime is insane, and there is no time where riders are not out of their seat! The launch is forceful, and the predrop airtime hills provided a beautiful view of the entire ride! While the ride was down a lot for maintenance, I was still able to get about 10 rides on it, and it's now my favorite wooden coaster!
----
Dollywood was incredible. The ride operations were great, every employee I encountered provided great service, and the atmosphere was unlike any other theme park I have been too. Their coaster lineup was fantastic. I would return in a heartbeat!
