Six Flags New England Review

One of my English assignments at school was to write a persuasive review of anything of our choice. Of course I chose Six Flags, as I already write about the park a lot. I decided to post it here! Let me know what you think!

Six Flags New England is home to the biggest thrills of the Northeast. Whether you like 200+ foot drops, endless spinning, or even a leisurely ride on a classic Carousel, this park has it all. Six Flags New England is a Five Star park with thrilling coasters, family sized attractions, interactive thematics, and tons of games and entertainment for everyone!
Six Flags is known for some of the most cutting edge, innovative attractions. In fact, Six Flags was the first theme park chain to add a Fourth Dimension Coaster, and has a park which is home to the World’s Tallest Coaster and Drop Tower! In addition to the thrills, Six Flags’ amazing entertainment team puts on shows multiple times a day, the culinary services offer delicious food, and there are many photo ops along the park! Six Flags New England also houses Hurricane Harbor, New England’s largest water park. This water park has some amazing rides to cool off on such as a trap door slide known as Bonzai Pipelines, or the classic Wave Pool! Six Flags New England has all the makings for a great Daycation!
If thrills are your thing, then Six Flags New England is the place for you! In fact, according to Six Flags, the property is home to 13 different roller coasters, which is more than any park in the region! The star attraction is Superman The Ride. On this 208 foot Mega Coaster, riders fly like the Man Of Steel himself, while experiencing drops of up to 221 feet, Stomach dropping airtime hills, and speeds of over 77 miles per hour. Another thrilling attraction is Wicked Cyclone, a cutting edge hybrid coaster from Rocky Mountain Construction. This coaster inverts riders three times, throws them into 14 airtime moments, and in and out of headchopper effects, which are caused by the extreme wooden structure of the ride. If these somehow do not seem thrilling enough for you, then The Joker is the coaster for you. This S&S 4D coaster has riders sitting on the wing of the train, flipping forwards and backwards, over 12 stories up! The thrills at Six Flags New England are unmatched! But, thrills might not be for everybody. For those who are not adrenaline junkies, there is plenty for you too!
The park may be known as “The Thrill Capital of New England”, but the park has a ton of attractions just for families! Pandemonium, the parks spinning coaster, is a blast! With a height requirement of only 43”, even some of the smallest guests can ride! It is quite a unique experience, as many coaster do not spin, instead they face the direction of travel through the entire ride. Well on Pandemonium, you experience, well, Pandemonium! Maybe spinning makes you a little bit queasy, well then Thunderbolt is your ride. This classic wooden coaster opened up in 1941, and has been thrilling riders ever since! Amazingly, this wooden coaster is extremely smooth, as Six Flags takes great care of this classic attraction. If, by some chance you are not ready for the family rides, Six Flags offers guests TWO children's areas, Looney Toons MovieTown and Kidzopolis! The pint sized attractions in these areas are perfect for the kids to get their thrill fix on! While the rides are amazing by themselves, the park adds to the experience with the use of theming.
Six Flags increases the experience by adding theming. According to Robert Niles of Theme Park Insider, the addition of theming, especially Intellectual Properties(IP) draws more guests in for an attraction, and makes it more memorable. An example of using an IP at Six Flags is Superman! The park immerses riders into the city of Metropolis. Storyboards in the queue line get riders learning about how Superman defeated Bizarro, who is his enemy along with being the former theme of the ride. The park has turned the attraction from “a ride”, to a totally immersive, multi-sensory experience, all with the addition of theming. In addition to Superman, Wicked Cyclone, has an incredibly detailed storyline in which the riders are storm chasers! To further exemplify the thematic experience, Six Flags has toppled signs, damaged vehicles, and even a mock weather report, which are all located in the queue line. These additions set riders up for the “Storm” that they are about to conquer.  The best addition of theming at Six Flags New England has to be Houdini’s Great Escape. The ride itself is similar to that of a pendulum, but it’s inside. To make the experience memorable, Six Flags created a pre-show room, along with multiple special effects. These include a video, which talks in-depth about how Houdini started, then the effect of a thunderstorm passes by, and sets off Houdini’s ghost, who starts moving everything around the room. When guests board the ride, there is an audio score and lots of dialogue throughout, which totally add to the experience. Because of the addition of theming, rides have gone from lame to a totally amazing experience that you cannot get anywhere else! Six Flags is not just about rides, though.
Six Flags New England has a huge team of entertainment members who provide activities that can be alternatives for rides. Whether it be a meet and greet with a popular Looney Toons character, or a magic show in the Rockville Theater, there is always something to do. The Six Flags culinary team strives to go above and beyond the typical “Amusement Park Food”. JB’s smokehouse, the park's barbeque restaurant, actually smokes their delicious pulled pork on the premise! The smell of the smoker follows you through the restaurant and shows the customer that the food is fresh, and you are going to be having a great dining experience! No trip to an amusement park is complete without playing a classic game, and Six Flags has a plethora of games! Whether it be ring toss or water squirters, it is always fun to test your skills and bring home a great prize!
Six Flags New England has a very diverse set of offerings, and because of this, there is something for the whole family to enjoy. Exhilarating coasters, Amazing shows, Delectable foods, Immersive theming, and Entertaining games are just some of the great offerings of Six Flags New England. This park is top tier, and a great value! Now get off your computer and get ready to #Thrillitup at Six Flags!
