What is Houdini- The Great Escape?

Image
PC: Theme Park Review You have probably seen it from the midway at Six Flags New England. It is the large building with Opera House signage located next to Tomahawk and Rock n' Rodeo in Crackaxle Canyon. Inside this building is the home of Harry Houdini, and you will be a part of his greatest escape yet! PC: Allison S Enter Houdini's Parlor and look around. This room features some very nice theming, such as the remains of Houdini's best escapes. The chains over the safe move around and jiggle, while the water tank bubbles up. PC: Allison S Next, a video is shown on a screen above a fireplace. This video is made to look as if it is old and worn. It describes Houdini's origins, while showing a young Houdini doing a disappearing act. After the video concludes, there is a Thunder Sequence, which eventually leads to Houdini telling you to enter the next room. PC: Allison S The next room is where the ride portion of this experience is. It is a Vekoma Ma

The Joker @ Six Flags New England

Image
The Joker 4D Free Fly Coaster at Six Flags New England opened to Season Passholders this weekend! This S&S Free Spin Coaster travels through its 109 ft Vertical layout, flipping 4-8 times per ride! Riders get lifted up elevator style, until the top of the lift. Right off the bat, riders enter the first of many inversions. Personally, I got three full flips, along with many out of control swings, where I was rocking back and forth. I found these rocking motions to be extremely fun, and the flips were very smooth. The "Beyond-Vertical Raven Drops" were also very fun. They provided a great moment of weightlessness. The station loads two cars at once, and seems to be quite efficient. The queue line also includes a single rider line, which should help fill up empty seats. The queue house has multiple monitors, which play trivia, and Joker Cam, which is an interactive program! And located at the exit is Funhouse Gifts, which is where you can purch

Fahrenheit- Coaster Review

Image
Fahrenheit brings the heat! This one of a kind Intamin looping coaster located at Hersheypark brings riders up 121 feet, vertical. Then, riders crest the lift hill into a 97 degree Beyond Vertical drop. From there, riders travel through six inversions at a top speed of almost 60 mph.  In this review, I will be going through different categories and rating the ride on a 1-10 scale. Theming and Scenery Fahrenheit doesn't really have a theme, but the ride area and surroundings is pretty nice looking. The station, which can be seen above, is very nice looking and fits in well with the natural trees which surround the area. The color scheme of the ride, while faded, also looks very nice. Theming and Scenery: 6/10 Credit:LATimes Trains Fahrenheit has Three 12 passenger trains. Each passenger is secured by a vest restraint. These vest restraints were added a few seasons ago, and replaced the hard restraints seen in the above photo. The ride in the front of the train is

Lake Compounce Opening Weekend

Image
Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT opened for the 2017 season this past weekend. I visited on Sunday, May 7th to check out all of the improvements made to the park! First, lets check out Ghost Hunt. The park is working hard to get Ghost Hunt open for Memorial Day. This season, the ride will have all new guns and targets. The targets will change colors, and be worth a different amount of points depending on the color. The park is also adding a scoreboard to the end of the ride! Wildcat's work is also nearing completion. Crews were hard at work while I was at the park on Sunday. The new GCI Millennium Flyers are already on the track, just waiting for the track work to be complete. These trains, along with the track work, should provide a very smooth experience on Wildcat! The park is aiming for a Memorial Day opening! The tubs on American Flyers got some new paint and decals, which look very nice! Wave Swinger also got new seats! I found them to be quite comfort

The Joker 4D Free Fly Coaster Opens on May 27th

Six Flags New England has announced that the Grand Opening for The Joker 4D Free Fly Coaster will be on Saturday, May 27th! The prior weekend, May 20th and 21st, the park will be offering Season Passholders an exclusive preview to ride The Joker! Above is a POV of The Joker 4D Free Fly Coaster, which in my opinion, looks "Flipping" amazing! Here is a little bit of background information about The Joker The Joker: 4D Free Fly Coaster will feature:  * One-of-a-kind onboard magnetic technology featuring four to eight smooth head-over-heels free-fly flips providing guests the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional track; * A 4D wing coaster that seats up to eight and has riders "face their fears" by allowing them to physically face each other as they tumble head-over-heels; * A 120-foot tall hill that is ascended by an elevator-style lift straight up; * Two beyond 90-degree raven drops giving the sensati
