My Thoughts on Six Flags 2019 Additions
Today, August 30th, 2018, Six Flags has announced its New For 2019 for all of its parks! This amazing lineup features custom coasters, dizzying flat rides, and even a few record breakers! Let's get into the additions!
Six Flags Great America
Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL will introduce MAXX FORCE in 2019, an all new S&S Launch Coaster. This coaster will launch riders over 70mph in under two seconds. I think that this addition looks amazing, and I am very excited to see Six Flags putting in ground-up new coasters back into their parks! The layout, while short, looks to pack in an incredible amount of elements into a quick ride, which is sure to be breathtaking.
Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ will be introducing WONDER WOMAN: Lasso of Truth for the 2019 season. This Zamperla Giant Discovery will be the Tallest Pendulum Ride in the world when it opens, Swinging riders over 17 stories at over 75 miles per hour! I think this is the perfect addition to Great Adventure, as the park has an amazing coaster lineup, but their flat ride collection is lacking a little bit. This will be sure to improve their lineup, and will look amazing located in the Metropolis area of the park near CYBORG Cyber Spin and JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle For Metropolis!
Six Flags Magic Mountain
In 2019, Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA will unleash West Coast Racers, the parks 20th coaster! This Premier Launch coaster is extremely unique, as it is a Mobius Loop style coaster, meaning two different laps, yet one connected track, similar to Twisted Colossus. Before the second lap, the ride will enter a "pit stop" The ride will feature four launches(two on each ride), multiple dueling and racing elements, and custom trains designed by West Coast Customs. I am absolutely blown away by this announcement, as I was not expecting anything like this. The ride time seems long, and the elements and their interactions look absolutely amazing! The rendering does show the coaster with Comfort Collar restraints, so I'm hoping that they are not a part of the final design, but either way, this coaster looks like a blast!
Six Flags New England
2019 will bring CYBORG, a brand new spinning Dark Ride to Six Flags New England, in Agawam, MA. I am very excited for this addition, as SFNE only has one indoor attraction, Houdini's Great Escape. I also appreciate how it will be located inside the former Hall Of Justice, as it has been looking quite run down for the past few seasons, along with having very odd/short hours of operations. CYBORG is sure to be a great addition.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Fiesta Texas will introduce THE JOKER: Wild Card for the 2019 season. This 15 story tall pendulum will be the fastest ride in park history! Along with THE JOKER: Wild Card, an all new DC Universe area will be added to the park. I think this is a great addition, as these Pendulums from Zamperla are intense and a ton of fun! I'm also very pleased to hear about the new DC Universe, which will consolidate all the DC themed rides into one consistently themed area!
Six Flags America
For 2019, Six Flags America in Maryland will be transforming their stand-up coaster Apocalypse, into the new FireBird, a flourless coaster. I think this is a great move, as Stand Up coasters are no longer extremely popular, and this is a great way to bring new life into an old attraction!
The Great Escape
The Great Escape in Lake George, NY will be transforming their water park into Hurricane Harbor featuring the all new Bucket Blasters ride! I think this addition looks perfect for Great Escape, and will give them a chance to totally refresh the water park. As for Bucket Blasters, I absolutely loved riding a similar model at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo,CA will be bringing a flipping good time with BATMAN The Ride, The first of its kind 4D Free Spin in California! I think this is the perfect addition for this park, as when I visited I felt they needed one more thrilling coaster. As for the ride itself, these Free Spin coasters are insanely fun!
Six Flags Darien Lake
242 feet in the sky is the all new Six Flags Sky Screamer! For the 2019 season, Darien Lake will be rebranded as a Six Flags Park! I'm very excited for this addition, as the Sky Screamer rides provide great views, and a quick break from the heat. It will be the perfect addition to the lineup at Darien Lake.
Six Flags Over Texas
Arlington, Texas will be throwing riders for a loop or 6 on the all new Lone Star Revolution, the World's Tallest Loop Coaster! This is a great addition to SFOT, as they already have a great flat ride lineup, this will just add to the already awesome collection!
Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags Over Georgia outside Atlanta will be bringing guests multiple new experiences in 2019! An all new Screampunk themed area will be headlined by Pandemonium, a Zamperla Giant Discovery. These Discovery rides are a ton of fun, and will give Six Flags Over Georgia a much needed, High Capacity flat ride.
Frontier City
Frontier City in Oklahoma will be receiving Timber Town, an all new family and kids area for 2019! Great addition, as family rides are perfect for Frontier City's target audience.
Six Flags Mexico
Six Flags will be bringing two new family/kids areas to its property in Mexico City for 2019. Bugs Bunny Boomtown and DC Super Friends are sure to create memorable experiences for families to share!
La Ronde
La Ronde in Montreal will be getting Chaos, a Larson Super Loop. It will be a fun addition and fit well in their current ride lineup.
Six Flags St. Louis
Six Flags St.Louis will be bringing SUPERGIRL to the park in 2019. This Zamperla Endeavor attraction will flip riders upside down multiple times over 7 stories in the air! I think this is a great addition. I absolutely loved Endeavor at Luna Park, and it's great to see they're replacing a similar ride (Highland Fling) with a brand new version! The theme is also great, as I believe it is the first ride themed to Supergirl!
It is a great year at Six Flags and I'm So excited to try out these new experiences!
