Exclusive Q&A With Quassy Amusement Park!

Image
Quassy is a family owned amusement park located in Middlebury, CT. The park has a mixture of family and thrill rides, along with a waterpark. Quassy mixes Classic rides with modern machines with its unique lineup of attractions, featuring a Gravity Group Wooden Coaster, a Paratrooper, an SBF Reverse Time, and more! Quassy is a great park and we thank them for taking the time to answer our questions! The park just announced that you're adding two new family rides. How were these decided?    Based on the footprint of the area previously occupied by two Hampton Umbrella rides, the park had to work within those perimeters. That meant we could replace the two umbrella rides with attractions that had about the same diameters, or a single ride that would occupy the space of the two previous rides. Since the park’s recent focus has been on expanding its experiences so children can ride with parents/adults, a broad-based search of new and some used equipment took place over

Six Flags New England- 5 Year Plan

Image
So, it is the off season. No trip reports to post, no new rides to review, and no new photos to post. I was trying to decide what to post during this time of the year, and decided to use some creativity. So today is the first New England Park 5 Year Plan. Purely for fun, I'll be making a realistic 5 year plan for the parks of New England, starting with Six Flags New England.  In the past five years, SFNE has added Bonzai Pipelines, a drop capsule slide tower-2013 New England SkyScreamer, a 400+ ft tall Funtime Starflyer-2014 Wicked Cyclone, an RMC Hybrid- 2015 Fireball, a Larson Superloop,Rock n Rodeo,SBF Traffic Jam & Superman The Ride retheme- 2016 The Joker, an S&S Free Spin-2017 So my predictions will be based off of these previous additions, along with additions at other parks in the Six Flags chain. 2018- I predict the park will opt for an addition to their Hurrican Harbor waterpark. The last addition was Bonzai Pipelines in 20

Manufacturer Monday- Martin & Vleminckx

Image
All New Manufacturer Monday! Martin & Vleminckx, has answered many of our questions! Thank you very much to this great company! ·   Is there a certain coaster that Martin & Vleminckx is most proud of?       We are proud of them all, but perhaps I should point to the 1 st  ever wood coaster in China, the 1 st  ever racing wood coaster in China and the 1 st ever High Five element also in China. ·   Who primarily designs Martin & Vleminckx coasters?        The Gravity Group ·   Is there one insane coaster that Martin & Vleminckx was asked to build, but did not?      Not really ·   Martin & Vleminckx is doing work on both Wildcat and Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce, how much work is actually happening to these rides?       Simply routine re-tracking some portions of both rides. ·   Is there anything you would like our readers to know?      Just that we plan to announce some new projects soon and not in China.

Manufacturer Monday: Great Coasters International.

Image
This weeks Manufacturer Monday is for a Great   company! Great Coasters International is known for their signature twisting wooden coaster designs. I have ridden Gwazi and Apocalypse, two GCII coasters, and both are great rides! Gwazi, while it was a little rough, was a huge wooden structure with a great, thrilling layout. Apocalypse was just pure fun! GCII also has some of the best wooden coaster trains on the market. The Millennium Flyers are extremely comfortable, and I cannot wait to try them out on Wildcat right here in New England next summer! Thanks so much to Adam House from GCII f or answering our Questions!  We hope you enjoy the article! Kentucky Rumbler. P.C.   Tim Galvelis   Q.    GCII is one of the top wooden coaster manufacturers around. What do you think makes your products so appealing?    A.      With a GCII coaster, we always like to incorporate a few things.  The key features are the many directional changes.  Our Millennium and Fly

Lake Compounce Announces Ghost Hunt Refurbishment

Image
The Ghost Hunt haunted house attraction at Lake Compounce will be receiving some major upgrades for the 2017 season! Today, December 9, 2016, Lake Compounce announced that they will be working with Lagotronics Projects for all new guns and targets! Ghost Hunt is an Interactive Sally Dark Ride set inside Bleakstone Manor. Riders shoot at the targets with laser guns throughout the ride, gaining points as they go along. These improvements are very much welcomed, as the guns have had some problems in the past! In addition to these improvements, Lake Compounce is also doing major track work to Boulder Dash and Wildcat, they are adding new trains to Wildcat, and making many enhancements to Bear Creek Campground!

Flashback Friday! New England's Boomerangs

Image
New England is home to three Vekoma Boomerang Coasters. Two are located at Six Flags New England and one is located at Lake Compounce. While all are very similar, they each provide their own ride experiences. This article will list the key differences of the coasters, along with the best way to ride them. Goliath is the only Giant Inverted Boomerang in the group. It is similar except the rides layout is an "X" shape, and riders are underneath the track. The rides spikes are also 90 degrees straight up. When Goliath opened in 2012, after moving from its original home at Six Flags Magic Mountain, it was an amazing ride. It featured staggered seating, similar to some B&M hyper coasters, and provided a smooth ride.  In 2014, Six Flags New England began running a train from Premier rides which has made the ride experience significantly rougher and has multiple seats out-of-order at most times. I find that Goliath provides a good experience when follo
